Slip resistant
Pavers and textured stone keep their grip when wet, where a smooth slab can get slick.
Cooler on bare feet
Travertine and lighter stone stay noticeably cooler in the summer sun than a concrete slab.
No big cracks
The joints let the deck move with the ground, so you don't get the long cracks a poured deck gets over time.
Easy to fix
If a section ever settles, those pieces come up and go back down level. No patch marks.
